RRB JE Selection Process
The RRB JE (Junior Engineer) selection process has four main stages.
- First Stage: Candidates need to qualify the cut-off of RRB JE CBT Stage 1. You just need to score enough to clear the cut-off and move to the next stage. CBT-1 is an online exam with questions from Maths, Reasoning, General Science, and General Awareness. CBT 1 is a qualifying exam, which means its marks are not added to the final merit list.
- Second Stage: Those Candidates who pass CBT-1 move to CBT Stage 2, where questions are asked from their engineering subject, Computers, Environment, etc. The marks of CBT-2 are counted for the final selection.
- Document Verification: After clearing both CBT-1, CBT-2 exams, selected candidates go through Document Verification, where all certificates and documents are checked.
- Medical Examination: The final step is the Medical Test, where your physical fitness is checked to ensure you are fit for the job. You must pass all stages to get selected as a Junior Engineer in the Railways.
Stage | Description |
---|---|
1. CBT Stage 1 | Objective-type paper with questions from Mathematics, Reasoning, General Awareness, and General Science. |
2. CBT Stage 2 | Subject-specific questions related to engineering discipline + General Awareness, Physics/Chemistry, Computers, Environment. |
3. Document Verification | Candidates who qualify both CBTs are called for DV. |
4. Medical Examination | Final step to ensure candidate meets required medical standards. |
Important Notes:

- Only CBT 2 marks are used to prepare the final cut-off and merit list for RRB JE selection.
- In CBT Stage 2, your performance (marks scored) is crucial because it determines your merit position.
